Ed McMullen is President of the Columbia, South Carolina-based McMullen Public Affairs, a strategic public affairs and issues management firm dedicated to providing corporate, higher education and business association consulting, community and government relations, issues and public policy research studies, public service commission and other state and federal regulatory agency planning, issues management and strategic planning at all levels of government, media relations and media campaigns, third party coalition, grassroots development, political campaigns, polling, advertising, and consulting.
McMullen Public Affairs’ clients include several leading Fortune 500 corporations, small and medium sized companies, and business associations addressing energy, telecommunications, health and insurance, construction and development, environmental and regulatory, and numerous other business issues.
Ed has a 25 year career in public policy, politics, and business. With research foundation colleagues in nearly every state, his extensive relationships with key public policy leaders, and elected officials in the Southeast and Washington D.C., Ed is able to provide an array of contacts and opportunities for his clients.
Ed McMullen is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. He has been a policy adviser in several national presidential campaigns, as well as statewide campaigns in Virginia and South Carolina.
Ed McMullen has been appointed by state leaders to serve on several boards and commissions. He is recognized for his expertise in economic development, energy and telecommunications issues and tax policy and higher education. Ed recently served two terms as Chairman of the SC Endowed Chairs Research Centers Board working closely with the state’s three research universities to attract private sector investment in the states growing knowledge based economy– most notably the ICAR (International Center for Automotive Research) project between Clemson University, BMW, Michelin and Microsoft. With his service on the Board of the SC Commission on Higher Education and three of the four state tax study committees, Ed has played an integral role in creating opportunities between business, higher education and state government. He also served as a member of the SC competitiveness council, New Carolina, and was a leader on the nuclear power subcommittee.
